Willie Lee McQueen was born on April 2, 1927, in Montgomery, Alabama to Mary and John McQueen. He was affectionately called " Johnny".
He relocated to Cleveland in the early 1950s with his wife, Minnie Pearl and together they raised 8 children.
Willie was an avid sports fan, and his hobbies included fishing and playing pool. He had a great sense of humor and was extremely kindhearted. Willie always put his family first. His home was open to whoever needed it, whenever they needed it. He worked at Republic Steel and retired after 32 + years of service. He took pride in his job and taught his family the importance of establishing a good work ethic.
On July 8, 1995, Willie was baptized into the Jehovah's Witness faith. When he was physically able, he would walk to teach others about Jehovah and when he was physically unable, He would drive others to their destination so they could serve. Willie was diligent with his daily Bible study and prior to the pandemic he would hold study sessions in his home.
Willie was proceeded in death by his parents Mary and John McQueen, brother Melvin McQueen, sister Willie Mae McQueen, son Anthony McQueen, grandson Keith Carter and his great granddaughter Catalaya McQueen.
Willie leaves behind the following to cherish his memories:
His wife, Minnie McQueen, his children Sam Thomas III (Lavon), Patricia Kelly (Charles), Mikki Powell (Thomas), Steve McQueen, Mary Denise McQueen-Peacock and Melvin Donald McQueen (Anita).
His Grandchildren Amos Skip Carter Jr. (Dawn), Sinceree Joi Howell, John Carter, Larry DuShawn McQueen, Andre Shelburn (Allison). Chamere McQueen, Antionette McQueen, Ciara McQueen, Dashea McQueen, Christopher McQueen, Anthony Peacock II, 24 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren, and a host of extended family and friends including Amanda Patrick and Romell Freeman.
