Odell Chaney Obituary

Odell loved the Lord with all of her heart, mind, and soul. Her greatest desire was to please and serve Him, and share the love of God with everyone she came in contact

with. She never ended a conversation in person or by phone without saying " I Love you sweetheart, or I Love you dear".

In Luke 2, Anna a Prophetess, and a widow of about 84 years, "did not depart from the temple, but served God day and night with fasting and prayer." When Odell gave her life to the Lord she served Him faithfully in the ministry of prayer. She loved spending time with God in prayer, as well as praying for people she knew and didn't know.

Those who knew her knew that one of her favorite daily sayings comes from an Atlanta Attorney, "One Call, That's All." On Wednesday, July 3rd, 2024, she received her " One Call" from the Lord, saying "Well done, you good and faithful servant. You fought the good fight of faith. You have run your race and finished your course. You have been "promoted," now enter into the joy of the Lord, and take your rest in heaven."

She leaves to cherish her memory:: three beloved sons: William Warren (Denise); Novie Scott III (Kim), and Kendall Carlyle. Her only daughter, Tanya Lanette (Arthur), and three grandsons, Christian, Stephen, and David Croone. Two beloved granddaughters: Amiyah Jadyn and Kayla Danielle. One great-grandson: Mason James. One beloved niece: Gladys Nobles. Four sisters: Bernice Quinn of St. Louis, MO; Clara Stamps of Jackson, MS; Velma Berry (Robert Sr.) of Pearl, MS and Betty Barnes (Holiness) of Madison, MS. Two sisters preceded her in death: (Vera Ellis and Mary Wilson). Three brothers: Johnny Cotton, Henry Cotton, Sr. and James Cotton, all of Jackson, MS, a host of beloved nieces and nephews in the Christian- Cotton Family, a close and best friend (Gertha "Madea" Moultry), and many other neighbors and friends in Jackson, MS and Cleveland, Ohio.
