                                                                                              Affectionately called Mom, Momma, Granny, and Auntie

Bertha was born on July 19th, 1934, in Chesson, Alabama-to the late Willie Ned and Elizabeth Williams. She was the youngest of twelve children. Bertha attended Mount Sila Church in Chesson, Alabama, and accepted Christ at an early age. She graduated from Carver High School, class of 1953. Her classmates lovingly called her 'pretty girl'.

Bertha moved to Cleveland, Ohio in 1954 where she met and married Lemon T. Wimberly, Sr. Born to this union were three children: Lemon, Jr. (deceased), Judy and Reginald. She joined Mount Nebo Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Reverend Ernest Thompson. She was a dedicated member of the General Missions (The Ruth Circle), which provided spiritual guidance and social services. They served at nursing homes, visited with those who were sick and shut-in, and participated in different fundraising activities within the church.

Bertha was employed by Knights Brothers wallpaper company for twenty years as an inspector, leaving to care for her grandchildren, as they were her crowning glory (Proverbs 17:6).

Bertha was a phenomenal cook. She took joy in feeding everyone who came her way. always looking out for neighbors, family, and friends. She loved traveling, visiting her family, and listening to R&B music, especially Al Green. Her doors were open to all and made everyone feel at home. She had an infectious smile and unforgettable laughter. Bertha was known for being someone you could always depend on and ready to help with encouraging words, wisdom, and prayers.

Bertha departed this life on April 8th, 2023. She leaves to cherish in her memory her beloved daughter Judy Reeves (Thomas, Sr.) beloved son Reginald Wimberly (Yolanda), sisters Lenora Croskery and Annie Matsey. She was preceded in death by her loving son Lemon T. Wimberly, Jr., siblings Robert, Trusella, Gertrude, Henry, Mary, Joseph, Jimmie, Willie, and Thomas.

She will be truly missed by her grandchildren Reginald (Asra), Tandra, Thomas, Jr., Dashaun (deceased), Whittany (Nicholas), Shelli, Dale, ten great-grandchildren, and a host of close nieces and nephews who were more like siblings, family, and friends.
